There are some great resources available online that can help you with class preparations and planning, as well as resources to support and inform you as a teacher.


Resources for the classroom


From teaching plans to worksheets, there are some amazing sites online that can help you plan the very best lessons for your secondary school students.


1) Resourceaholic has ideas and resources for teaching secondary school maths classes. The blog pairs useful resources with tips from real-life classroom scenarios.

2) Teachit is a collection of resources for teachers, by teachers. It includes hundreds of teaching packs and schemes of learning, aimed at primary and secondary school teachers.

There are some blogs available to inspire, inform and support you on your journey as a Secondary School Teacher.


1) Teacher Toolkit by Ross McGill is a great blog inspired by Ross’ encounters in the classroom. He offers advice, humour and support in his blog aimed at teachers and supply teachers.

2) The Learning Spy by David Didau challenges you to question what you know about teaching and the curriculum, posing questions about why you do what you do and what your role as a teacher is and should be.

Essex resources


As a secondary school teacher in Essex, there are numerous resources available by Essex council to support teaching staff based in Essex schools.


Their page “Teaching Resources and Assessment Tools” is regularly updated with relevant and local links and websites that can help plan and deliver lessons in Essex secondary schools. The page provides a range of strategy based resources that support intentional teaching of a range of skills. The skills will support and develop children and young people's (CYP's).
